Description
This homemade chai latte recipe combines sweet honey, warming spices, and steamed milk to create a comforting and aromatic drink perfect for chilly days. Easy to prepare from scratch with just a few ingredients, it captures the cozy essence of traditional chai tea in a creamy, soothing latte.
Ingredients
Scale
Chai Concentrate
- 2 - 3 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
- ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 chai tea bags
Milk
- 2 cups milk of choice
Instructions
- Make the Chai Concentrate: Add the honey and ground spices into a heat-proof jar or measuring cup. Pour the boiling water over the mixture and whisk well until the honey is fully dissolved.
- Steep the Tea: Add the chai tea bags to the mixture and let steep for at least 15 minutes to develop rich flavor.
- Store or Use Immediately: If not drinking right away, allow the concentrate to cool completely, then refrigerate for up to 2 to 3 days. Otherwise, proceed to the next step.
- Heat and Froth the Milk: Warm the milk gently on the stove until simmering. For best texture, froth 1 cup of milk at a time using a milk frother if available.
- Assemble the Latte: Divide the warmed or frothed milk evenly between two mugs. Top each with an equal amount of chai concentrate. Stir gently and serve immediately.
Notes
- Adjust sweetness by varying honey or syrup amount to your taste.
- Use your preferred type of milk, such as cow’s milk, almond, oat, or soy milk.
- Frothing the milk enhances texture, but is optional.
- Concentrate can be refrigerated for a few days to prepare in advance.
- For a stronger chai flavor, steep tea bags longer or add extra spices.
