Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 4 medium yellow potatoes
- 8 oz Colby Jack cheese, freshly grated
- 10 ounce can cream of chicken soup
- 10 ounce can cream of celery soup
- ⅓ cup milk
- ½ teaspoon all purpose seasoning
- ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ cup French’s fried onions
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F to prepare for baking the casserole.
- Cook Ground Beef: Add the ground beef to a lightly greased 10-inch cast iron skillet or a 9x13-inch casserole dish. Break up the meat evenly, season with salt and pepper, and spread out in an even layer.
- Prepare Potatoes: Peel and slice the yellow potatoes into even slices. Layer them evenly over the cooked ground beef in the skillet or dish.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle the freshly grated Colby Jack cheese evenly over the potatoes for a melty, cheesy layer.
- Mix Creamy Sauce: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of chicken soup, cream of celery soup, milk, all-purpose seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce. Whisk thoroughly until smooth and well blended.
- Top the Cheese: Spoon the creamy soup mixture over the cheese layer, spreading it evenly with the back of a spoon to cover the surface.
- Cover and Bake: Cover the skillet or casserole dish tightly with aluminum foil. Place it on a baking sheet to catch any spills, then bake in the preheated oven for 90 minutes.
- Add Fried Onions: Carefully remove the foil after baking. Evenly sprinkle the French’s fried onions over the top of the casserole.
- Broil for Crispiness: Place the casserole under a hot broiler for 2-3 minutes until the fried onions turn golden brown and crispy.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley if desired, and serve warm for a hearty meal.
