Main Ingredients
- 30 frozen meatballs
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (to taste)
Optional
- 1 12 oz package egg noodles
- Parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cook Noodles: Boil water and cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside until needed. Alternatively, use rice or mashed potatoes as a base.
- Melt Butter: Add butter to a large sauté pan or skillet over medium-high heat until melted.
- Make Roux: Whisk in the flour until clumpy, then continue stirring and cook until the mixture starts to turn brown for a nutty flavor.
- Add Liquids: Slowly pour in the beef broth and heavy cream while whisking continuously until the sauce is smooth.
- Season Sauce: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer gently.
- Heat Meatballs: Microwave frozen meatballs according to package directions or for about 5 minutes; they do not need to be fully heated through at this stage.
- Simmer Meatballs: Add the meatballs to the sauce and simmer together for about 5 minutes until heated through and flavors meld.
- Serve and Garnish: Sprinkle with parsley if desired, serve the meatballs and sauce over noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes, and enjoy your meal.
Notes
- Using frozen meatballs saves time without sacrificing flavor.
- For a thicker sauce, cook the roux a bit longer before adding liquids.
- Serve over egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or rice for a hearty meal.
- Garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color and freshness.
- Adjust salt and pepper to taste depending on your preference.
