Description

crispy and tangy Air Fryer Fried Dill Pickles are a perfect game day appetizer made with crunchy pickle spears coated in seasoned panko breadcrumbs, air fried to golden perfection with a fraction of the oil used in traditional frying.

Ingredients

Scale

Pickle and Coating

  • 16 pickle spears
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 ½ cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • grapeseed oil spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F if your model requires preheating to ensure even cooking.
  2. Prepare Coating Bowls: Place the all-purpose flour in a bowl. In another bowl, whisk together eggs and milk. In a third bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dry Pickles: Pat the pickle spears dry thoroughly with paper towels to help the coating stick properly.
  4. Coat Pickle Spears: Dip each pickle spear first into the flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat well in the seasoned panko breadcrumb mixture. Repeat for all pickle spears.
  5. Arrange in Air Fryer: Place the coated pickle spears in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding. You may need to cook in batches.
  6. Spray with Oil: Lightly spritz the pickle spears with grapeseed oil spray to enhance crispiness during air frying.
  7. Air Fry: Cook at 400°F for 6 minutes. Flip the spears over and air fry for an additional 6 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

Notes

  • This snack is perfect for game day or any party as a crispy, flavorful appetizer that’s much lighter than traditional deep frying.
  • If you don’t have grapeseed oil spray, any light cooking spray or a brush of vegetable oil works well.
  • Make sure to dry the pickles thoroughly before coating to prevent sogginess.
  • Serve immediately for the best crunch; leftovers can be reheated in the air fryer for a few minutes.
