Ingredients
Scale
Donut Holes
- 1 can buttermilk Pillsbury Grands biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
- Vegetable oil for deep frying (about 2 cups to fill 1-inch depth in pot)
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Chocolate Dipping Sauce
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
Instructions
- Prepare Dough Balls: Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the 8 biscuits. Cut each biscuit into 4 equal pieces and roll each piece into a smooth ball to form the donut holes.
- Heat Oil: In a large heavy pot, pour vegetable oil to a depth of 1 inch. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350 degrees Fahrenheit, suitable for deep frying the donut holes.
- Fry Donut Holes: Carefully drop a few dough balls into the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding. Fry them until golden brown on all sides, about 2 to 3 minutes, turning as needed for even cooking. Use a slotted spoon to remove and place them on a cooling rack or paper towels to drain excess oil and cool slightly. Repeat with remaining dough balls in batches.
- Coat with Cinnamon Sugar: On a plate or shallow bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Roll each warm donut hole in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well coated.
- Make Chocolate Sauce: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and heavy whipping cream. Microwave on high for 30 to 45 seconds until the chocolate is melted. Stir until the mixture is smooth and creamy for dipping.
- Serve: Serve the cinnamon sugar-coated donut holes warm with the chocolate dipping sauce on the side for an irresistible treat.
Notes
- For best results, maintain the oil temperature at 350°F to ensure donut holes cook evenly and do not absorb too much oil.
- Use a thermometer to check oil temperature for consistent frying.
- You can substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips with milk or dark chocolate according to your taste.
- Donut holes are best enjoyed fresh but can be kept in an airtight container for up to 1 day.
- If no microwave is available, gently heat the chocolate and cream together over a double boiler until smooth.
- Roll donut holes in cinnamon sugar while still warm so it sticks better.
